Why we built Calibrex.
We didn’t start Calibrex to build another fitness gadget.
The world is already full of trackers designed to be worn 24/7. They are excellent at tracking your recovery, your sleep, and your steps. But when it comes to the weight room, they fall short.
Strength training requires more than a heart rate monitor on your wrist. It requires measuring the load, the speed, and the mechanical tension of the weight itself.
Calibrex is the first wearable designed strictly for training paired with live audio coaching.
It's magnetic and versatile. It clips onto your body for calisthenics, but it also snaps onto machines, barbells, and cables to track every rep of every exercise with precision.
Think of it as the perfect compliment to your existing toolkit:
Your daily wearable tracks your readiness.
Calibrex tracks your performance.
One of us is an ex-pro athlete. The other is a obsessed engineer.
Between the two of us, we saw the same problem from two different angles.
The Athlete’s View:
When you train at the elite level, nothing is random. You don’t guess your weights. You don’t guess your rest times. You have a coach watching every rep, measuring your velocity, and telling you exactly when to push and when to stop. That precision is why pros get results.
But when we walked into commercial gyms, we saw the opposite. We saw people working incredibly hard but getting nowhere. They were guessing. They were plateauing. They were getting injured. They didn’t lack motivation; they lacked feedback.
The Engineer’s View:
We looked at the "tech" available to solve this. It was a joke.
Apps that are just glorified spreadsheets. Watches that count steps but have no idea if you’re actually lifting with intent.
The technology existed—velocity-based training (VBT) units used by the NFL and NBA—but it cost thousands of dollars and required a PhD to interpret.
So we asked a simple question:
Why is the most effective training methodology in the world reserved for the top 1%?
We decided to democratize it.
Hand-Built in NYC
We refused to outsource the soul of this company.
While most competitors drop-ship cheap plastic from overseas, we took a different path. We are hand-building the first units right here in New York City.
We’ve tracked over 25 million reps. We’ve spent two years refining the algorithms. We didn’t just want to build a tracker; we wanted to build a digital coach that lives in your ear and respects the iron as much as you do.
The Mission
We believe that strength is for everyone, not just the genetically gifted.
We believe that if you are willing to do the work, you deserve to know—with absolute certainty—that you are doing it right.
We built Calibrex to close the gap between "working out" and "training."
To give you the same tools, the same data, and the same coaching cues that gold medalists use, for the price of two protein shakes a month.
This isn’t just about lifting weights. It’s about lifting the ceiling on what you think you’re capable of.
If you’re ready to stop guessing and start training, welcome to the team.
